Helping your clients return to work after making a claim

client-meeting

At TAL, we acknowledge the important role you play in guiding your clients through the claims process. Having your support during one of their most difficult times can make an invaluable difference to their experience. However, the journey for clients doesn’t end with the benefit payment.

Once your client is well enough, they’ll need to think about navigating the next stage – returning to work. Heading back to work as soon as it’s safe has been found to be good for both mental and physical health and wellbeing. It’s an important step to take, and can help with recovery from illness and injury, while decreasing the chances of lowered self-esteem and isolation.

Still, re-entering the workforce can feel like a daunting task after taking an extended period off while ill or injured. That’s why, we’ve designed a range of services to support your clients so they can recover and return to work with confidence following a claim. By offering these services, you can provide timely support for vulnerable clients from encouraging their protection with an insurance purchase, to assisting them through claim time, and easing their return to work after recovery.

Career coaching
Our career coaching services can help your clients find a new role if they’re unable to return to their previous work. Through our partnerships with Thrive Re, Workcom, VIM, and Career Management Services, we can help clients explore alternative occupations based on their previous experience, interests, and the types of work they’re able to do after injury or illness.

Return to work programs
We work with your client, treating practitioners and their employer to develop a plan to help them return to work safely. The programs are developed by an occupational rehabilitation provider from one of our partners at Thrive Re, Workcom, VIM or Altius Group.

Work conditioning programs
Our work conditioning programs support to increase your client’s ability to participate in work and home activities. A physiotherapist or exercise physiologist from Exphys, Guardian Exercise or Specialised Health will develop a personalised program based on your client’s needs and the state of their health and wellbeing. The programs aim to provide your client with the education and tools to maintain their health independently.

Workplace assessment

We can arrange on-site workplace assessments by occupational rehabilitation specialists. They will get to know your client’s work environment, job tasks, and functional and cognitive requirements to help your client and their employer prepare for their return to work.
