HeartChecker

We’re committed to helping Australians live healthier lives through proactive healthcare. We’re excited to announce the launch of TAL HeartChecker in partnership with the Heart Foundation—Australia’s leading authority in heart disease prevention and research funding.

As part of this partnership, we’re offering you and your clients access to engaging tools, and resources to help you manage your heart health. This includes the Heart Age Calculator, which estimates your heart age through a few simple questions and gives your clients a meaningful starting point for broader wellbeing conversations.

Why it matters

Cardiovascular disease (CVD) continues to be a major health issue in Australia, with over 4.5 million people self-reporting as living with a form of CVD—including coronary heart disease, stroke and heart attack1. One Australian dies every 12 minutes from CVD, which accounts for 24% of all deaths.1

But there is some good news. According to the World Heart Federation, about 80% of CVD is preventable with some small, achievable lifestyle changes.2

How can TAL HeartChecker help?

TAL HeartChecker provides information on heart health and heart disease risk factors such as:

  • High blood pressure or cholesterol
  • Smoking
  • Poor diet and inactivity
  • Diabetes and obesity
  • Stress and alcohol consumption

By understanding risks early, you and your clients are in a stronger position to make meaningful changes that could improve both your health and long-term financial outlook.

Understanding your heart age

If your clients are aged between 35-75, the first step to finding a heart-healthy rhythm begins with knowing their heart age. The Heart Age Calculator, developed by the Heart Foundation, is a simple and effective tool that estimates heart age based on lifestyle factors and key health indicators.

To understand heart age, it applies an algorithm that calculates the probability of experiencing a cardiovascular event in the next five years—based on a series of quick general health and lifestyle questions.

By knowing your heart age, clients can have a better understanding of the risk of a heart attack or stroke, and most importantly, the positive steps that can be taken to live a heart healthy lifestyle.
