Updates to our Medical Evidence Authority form
We have recently made some changes to our Medical Evidence Authority form used during the underwriting process.
This update includes additional information for customers on how we collect and use their health information. It also outlines that the authority can only be used for the current application submitted to us, to make it clear that we are unable to reuse the customer’s authority for future applications or claims. These changes were made as an interim measure to bring our wording closer to the new consent wording in the Financial Services Council (FSC) - Standard 26: Consent for accessing health information.
The FSC has extended the 1 July 2020 implementation date to comply with the new Standard due to the impacts of COVID-19. We will be making further changes to the Medical Evidence Authority form to fully comply with FSC Standard 26 when the FSC announces a new implementation date.
