TAL SpotChecker delivers 1,391 skin checks across Australia

TAL’s annual skin check initiative, TAL SpotChecker, has wrapped up for the 2018/2019 summer, visiting iconic beaches around Australia providing free professional skin checks and offering educational resources encouraging people to self-check.

It was wonderful to see some of you and your clients visit the TAL SpotChecker pop-up clinics.

This year our participation numbers were higher than ever:

  • A total of 1,391 people were checked across all locations
  • Out of the participants this year, 20% were referred on to see a GP for further checks
  • Since TAL SpotChecker launched in 2016 we have provided a total of 3,402 skin checks with 695 people being referred for further checks.

This year, TAL SpotChecker also partnered with Firstcheck. Firstcheck is a mobile based App that allows people to take photos of spots on their skin using a special magnifying lens called a SkinScope. These images can then be sent via the App to a professional GP for assessment. Through this partnership, we were able to reach more of our customers across Australia, offering more than 1,000 free Firstcheck skin check packages.

What matters most for us is that together, we can spread the message about the importance of skin checks. With 2 in 3 Australians diagnosed with skin cancer by the age of 70, it is important that we do what we can to raise awareness about early detection in the community.

You can help by continuing to spread the word about the importance of skin safety and encouraging your clients and friends to commit to a skin check, which is important all year round.

TAL SpotChecker is just one of the many ways we aim to empower our customers to live their best lives.

Thank you to everyone who may have visited TAL SpotChecker over the summer, and for your continued efforts to support your clients with their health. We look forward to bringing TAL SpotChecker back next summer.
