TAL SpotChecker delivers 750 free skin checks across Australia

TAL SpotChecker

TAL’s annual skin check initiative, TAL SpotChecker has wrapped up for the 2019/2020 summer, visiting iconic beaches across Australia to provide free professional skin checks to TAL customers and the general public.

It was wonderful to see some of you and your clients visit the TAL SpotChecker pop-up clinics.

TAL SpotChecker is aimed at raising awareness of the importance of regular skin checks to detect and prevent skin cancer as well as encouraging and enabling more Australians to embrace skin safety and commit to regular skin checks.

This year, TAL SpotChecker visited three states, providing 287 skin checks by specialist skin cancer doctors at Bondi Beach, 216 at St Kilda Beach, and 247 at Cottesloe Beach.

The results were as follows:

  • A total of 750 people received professional skin checks across all locations
  • Out of the participants this year, 16% were referred on to see a GP for further checks
  • Since TAL SpotChecker launched in 2016, we have provided more than 4,000 free skin checks to Australians.

This year, to ensure that the initiative achieves scale beyond the pop-up clinics, TAL also created a digital hub of online resources designed to help Australians learn more about skin safety and how to book a professional skin check through its “Find a GP near you” tool. This tool has seen over 1,000 users since its launch in November 2019.

What matters most for us is that together, we can spread the message about the importance of regular skin checks. With 2 in 3 Australians diagnosed with skin cancer by the age of 701, it is important that we do what we can to raise awareness about early detection in the community.

You can help by continuing to spread the word about the importance of skin safety and encouraging your clients and friends to commit to a skin check, which is important all year round.

TAL SpotChecker is just one of the many ways we aim to empower our customers to live their best lives through preventative health.

Thank you to everyone who may have visited TAL SpotChecker over the summer, and for your continued efforts to support your TAL customers with their health. We look forward to bringing TAL SpotChecker back next summer.
