Nominations for the Female Excellence in Advice award are now open

Nominations for the Female Excellence in Advice award are now open

TAL is proud to once again sponsor this award as part of the AFA Awards Program, recognising and celebrating the contribution of female advisers to the industry.

The Female Excellence in Advice (FEIA) award aligns with TAL’s commitment to improving the representation of women in the industry. By supporting awards such as FEIA, TAL is playing an active role in encouraging more women to become financial advisers and increasing their visibility in what has historically been a male-dominated industry. Now in its tenth year, the award program has recognised some incredibly talented and dedicated female advisers over this time.

The financial industry falls behind other professions when it comes to female participation. For the Association of Financial Advisers, women make up only 23 per cent of the existing membership base, but this number increases to 32 per cent for new members. This compares unfavourably against demographic statistics and ranks below other traditionally male-dominated professions, such as law, medicine and accounting (which have over 45 per cent women).

The FEIA award provides an opportunity to encourage women to enter the industry, and to raise the profile of women advisers in the community. This will assist the industry to engage effectively with women and help them to secure their own futures.

The FEIA award has had a positive impact on past winners, helping them to raise their profile and build stronger networks within the industry. Dawn Thomas, the 2019 winner of the FEIA award and Senior Financial Adviser at The Wealth Designers, shared how winning the award has benefitted her career and given her more confidence in own skills.

“The FEIA experience was life changing because I felt truly seen and heard by the profession. The process gives you access to amazing and inspiring people and you feel championed and lifted. Winning FEIA in 2019 allowed me to recognise that my kind of advice, ‘advice from the heart’ has a celebrated place in our profession.”

Nominations for this year’s award are currently open and close on Friday, 12 August, 2022. Financial advisers can nominate themselves for the award, or be nominated by their peers or clients. There is a $15,000 TAL Education Prize on offer for the winner, helping them to build their profile, gain deeper career insights and make valuable connections that can take their career forward. ’

Find out more about how to nominate through the FEIA website.
